چکیده

We study the effect of thermal fluctuations on the topological stability of chiral p-wave superconductors. We consider two models of superconductors: spinless and spinful with a focus on topological properties and Majorana zero-energy modes. We show that proliferation of vortex-antivortex pairs above the Kosterlitz-Thouless temperature TKT drives the transition from a thermal Quantum Hall insulator to a thermal metal/insulator, and dramatically modifies the ground-state degeneracy splitting. Therefore, in order to utilize 2D chiral p-wave superconductors for topological quantum computing, the temperature should be much smaller than TKT. Within the spinful chiral p-wave model, we also investigate the interplay between half-quantum vortices carrying Majorana zeroenergy modes and full-quantum vortices having trivial topological charge, and discuss topological properties of half-quantum vortices in the background of proliferating full-quantum vortices.

Relaxation and Thermal Conductivity of Hot and Thermal Quasiparticles and Fermi Liquid Interactions in d-wave Superconductors

In this paper, we calculate theoretically the relaxation rates of hot, thermal and antinodal quasiparticles by using Fermi’s golden rule. The transition probabilities at low temperatures express in terms of Bogoliubov coefficients, singlet and triplet scattering amplitudes and dimensionless Landau parameters. The values of Landau parameters may be determined by comparison with the experimental ...

Order in 2D nodal superconductors

A topological theory of d-wave superconductors is derived in this thesis. Ginzburg-Landau theory describes superconductivity by defining a complex order parameter and applying Landau’s theory for phase transitions. However, there is no local, gauge invariant order parameter for a superconductor and classical order is no appropriate description. Topological order has proven to be a powerful tool...

0 M ay 1 99 5 Thermal Fluctuations in d - wave Layered Superconductors February 1 , 2008

We study the thermal fluctuations of anisotropic order parameters (OP) in lay-ered superconductors. In particular, for copper oxides and a d-wave OP, we present some experimental consequences of fluctuations in the direction normal to the layers. It is shown that the c-axis penetration depth λ c can have a " disorder-like " quadratic temperature dependence at low temperature. The fluctuations a...

اتصال جوزفسون بین ابررساناهای دمای بالا با ضریب عبور اختیاری

In this paper, a dc Josephson junction between two singlet superconductors (d-wave and s-wave) with arbitrary reflection coefficient has been investigated theoretically. For the case of high Tc superconductors, the c-axes are parallel to an interface with finite transparency and their ab-planes have a mis-orientation. The physics of potential barrier will be demonstrated by a transparency coeff...

Disorder Induced Fluctuations of the Pairing Parameter in P–wave Superconductors *

In case of an anisotropic superconductor non-magnetic disorder leads eventually to pair breaking effect via Abrikosov–Gorkov formula [1, 2, 3, 4, 5], like for magnetic impurities, for any value of a coherence length ξ. By analogy to an isotropic s–wave pairing, for superconductors with an enough large coherence length ξ, the amplitude of paring potential |∆(ij)| tends be the same for all bonds ...
